The Wine
Smooth is a sophisticated Chardonnay from The Loire Valley in France. Far from the buttery, oaked New World Chardonnays that divide opinion, this is all soft citrus and florals, with hints of honey and fresh minerals. This wine has enough complexity to hold its own against a bold seafood dish such as cod. It'll also melt in the mouth when paired with a creamy goats cheese.

The Winemaker
Nicholas is an independent winemaker based in the Loire Valley, who usually makes the relatively unknown Pineau d'Aunis variety for local restaurants and winemaker hangouts. However, each year he also produces a small parcel of Chardonnay, to take advantage of the limestone-rich soils of the area.

How we choose our wines

We seek out single-varietal wines that perfectly show off the character of each grape, and we intentionally look in the regions that the varietal is famous for, such as Piedmont for Nebbiolo. We only work with independent winemakers, who really care about the wines they create. And we specifically look for wines with the acidity and freshness that we know works best in can.
